Be very careful mate they split very easily especially round the raised "lip" in the centre.
Yes, they do, I use a stanley blade to twist the edge after i blow lamp it, if it's really locked on the blade should break first. Do wear glasses, flying metal and all that.
If you have any silicone grease Joss, use a little smear of that, failing that, copper or aluminium grease.
Be very careful of silicone though, don't try and clean your gloves, just throw them away. Incredibly difficult stuff to get off, but it doesn't absorb water and is a decent insulator, so you get less electrolytic corrosion if the spacers are plain alloy and left on for years.
