Hi. I have a 2007 Z4 E85 2.1. My problem is that some warning lights refuse to go out which means i have a problem with renewing the MOT. A mechanic says its the Sensor Cluster under the driver seat which could cost me £600. I can't find any second hand ones on the internet, can anyone assist please.

More info would help members to offer some advice here Dave. Specifically which warning lights refuse to go out? I'm not aware of a sensor "cluster"
anywhere on any car. Is it possible that he doesn't really know what the problem is? Is your car a 4 cyl. 2.0 or a 6 cyl 2.2?

But what does it control. What light(s) are on? Air bag? Did you get the fault code(s)? I just looked under the drivers seat on my car which is a 2003 and can't see anything like that. So maybe it is only fitted on "face lift" E85 cars? I see from the picture that it is an Ate part which would indicate it is connected to the braking system, so is it ABS light staying on?

Hi Tony
All the yellow warning lights that come on and stay on relate to the traction control/breaks. But i.ve had the brakes checked and the mechanic says its a fault with the wiring to this Sensor.

Where are you located Dave, I’m just wondering if you’re local to a member in possession of a code reader to find out what the fault actually is. I have an intermittent airbag light which is a bad connection in a socket on the “A” pillar, all I have to do is part the plug/socket and spray the contacts with electrical contact cleaner spray, put it back together and delete the fault code. It’s possible you may have a similar issue. These systems run on millivolts and it doesn’t take much to affect the sensors to throw a fault code.

Thanks Tony. I'll try the cleaner spray idea. What threw the mechanic is that no faults are shown when he plugged in the code reader.

If the warning lights were only showing yellow the faults may have been in the “pending codes”, do you know if he looked there?
