It would appear that its the same part number for all versions of the z3 ( unless someone knows different and can correct me)

There is a vehicle breaker not far from me who about 3-4 months ago has two Zed 3’s in the yard. One of which was a 2.8 with no engine.
I would be happy to check them out tomorrow morning and if they are still on there, and if they look ok , get a price for you
I believe the 1.9 is different

Sean,

I think that the 2.8 is a heavier version because of the greater weight. Does anyone know if my earlier comment about the BMW E36 is accurate?

Thank you.

@Sean d
You are right, just gone through the realoem options.

2.8 part number is 33321094762. A few on ebay under this number in the USA ...stupid carriage charges though !!

1.9 part number is 33321091152

Thanks Sean. I think they are asking silly money, £1,500 apiece. Once I have compared the parts I probably need to find the part for the E36.

If you where prepared to pay the £1500 it would do you no good whatsoever as it looks like they are no longer available, I have been corresponding with classic BMW, Germany for a number of weeks as I need one for a job and it's not looking good.

I think it’s going to have to be found from a scrapper.

Quite possibly but, if you can find that it was fitted to more models, at least it gives you more scope to search. Good luck.

Tony.

The pre-facelift 1.9 has it’s own part. It’s narrower to match the driveshafts. It’s the same as an E30 and E36 Compact. All other non-M models including facelift 1.9 use the same larger arm. Note not the driveshafts. The 3.0 at least is different.

There are tons of decent arms around (not seen a rotten one yet on the 11 Z3 that have gone through my hands) as there are always tons of cars being broken. Your issue is getting someone to take the trouble to remove it. Wing mirrors, seats, door cards, headlamps etc are very quick to remove and get very good money. Trailing arms are more of a pain to remove. Some people don’t want to crawl around under their cars, especially in the winter when it’s cold and wet. Though it’s a lot easier for the seller and you if you take the assembly complete with driveshaft and for that matter brake assembly.

If you PM me I’ll send you the name of a specialist breaker up north who may be willing to sort you out at a decent price. He works inside and has a 4-post ramp. I haven’t got his details to hand and I’ll forget unless you PM me.

Just a thought, but does anyone know whether it would be possible to weld a patch or repair section? You could get a lot of fabrication & welding expertise for a lot less than £1500...

You are right but I can be patient until I find the part.
