Seat Occupancy - Faulty Mat or sensor?

Could someone tell me where the airbag module is and what to remove to get at it as simply as possible please? I have read it is under the console but don't know where.

Underneath the centre console towards the rear of the gear stick unit is held in by three 10mm nuts on studs. If you take the drivers seat out you may manage to get your hand and a small spanner up the side of the centre console side to get the nuts off then disconnect the wiring and jiggle the unit up and out through whatever gap you have, maybe with the handbrake leather boot removed and pulled forward over the lever. Apart from checking the connections and plug for corossion there is not much else you can do to it. If you find it has failed by the codes that have been set then ensure a replacement has the same part number as the original. If you consult Realoem parts site for your car using its Vin number yo can find out what other modules can be fitted or not in the listing for the part number. A replacement will require coding to the car otherwise the airbag light will remain on and not clear. NCS Expert software can code these modules to the car.

The code I get is 02 after clearing it repeats.

Table 38 Code 02 on the B800 refers to the warning lamp, since its lit then the B800 is telling the truth but not the cause.
Probably need a better code reader on it to see whats setting the lamp. I use INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 and a handheld Creator 310+ which tend to give better descriptions of faults. I am in Newport and willing to plug your car in and take a look pm me if you want to follow this up and we can arrange.
