Hello - to clarify a bit because I have done something like this recently this is my advice, it is possible to fiddle with things and mix and match but it won't be a perfect finish

- Short foam and leather cover won't work proper on long frame even if you remove the plate I reckon, in my case it left quite a bit of the hinge at the bottom exposed and a wider gap between backrest and seat base at the bottom than expected, maybe it was just my covers but watch that area.

- You could massage a short leather cover into a long piece of foam and trim foam etc, the problem you will have is the "cutouts" on the foam that go horizontally where the seams of the leather back pieces rest will be tricky to align and will leave the leather "loose" on the seams and it won't feel properly attached and it will end up looking "baggy"

My advice, unless you live in the middle of nowhere and don't have easy access to parts the best course of action is to get the right size of foam, if you are repairing a driver seat get the passenger seat foam of an equivalent type seat it fits perfectly. same with the frames, you can also use a passenger seat frame, it will be real cheap to get a "cloth" passenger side seat of whichever type you need for next to nothing and just swap your leather covers and a much better end result

I have some leftover foams frame etc if anyone wants them and can collect in Herts for a donation to the forum.

Will be updating tomorrow. We have replacement short covers, long foam and short frame-I will report back on how it all goes together. Took the opportunity to replace the seat bushes at the same time. Watch this space.....

Ok- it went surprisingly well. The short and long foams are the same apart from the headrest area. We decapitated the old and new foams and stuck the old headrest area to the more modern foam with contact adhesive.

The only other slight difference in the foam is the lower outer bolster. Early foams have cutouts (not really sure why) but these are marked on the later foams, so we just cut them out with scissors.

Then it’s fitting the “new” covers. Straightforward but I suggest you practice with the plastic locking strips BEFORE you fit the cover in situ.- fiddly!

And so on to the before and after.
Severely ripped covers and shredded foam replaced with better (passenger) covers and later foam. The covers are still a little baggy at present but I fully expect these to settle with use. Naturally I did the rail bushes at the same time. Very pleased with the result.

Can you say where you bought the covers from? What material ? How much did they cost? Are you happy with them? Thanks
