Hello - to clarify a bit because I have done something like this recently this is my advice, it is possible to fiddle with things and mix and match but it won't be a perfect finish
- Short foam and leather cover won't work proper on long frame even if you remove the plate I reckon, in my case it left quite a bit of the hinge at the bottom exposed and a wider gap between backrest and seat base at the bottom than expected, maybe it was just my covers but watch that area.
- You could massage a short leather cover into a long piece of foam and trim foam etc, the problem you will have is the "cutouts" on the foam that go horizontally where the seams of the leather back pieces rest will be tricky to align and will leave the leather "loose" on the seams and it won't feel properly attached and it will end up looking "baggy"
My advice, unless you live in the middle of nowhere and don't have easy access to parts the best course of action is to get the right size of foam, if you are repairing a driver seat get the passenger seat foam of an equivalent type seat it fits perfectly. same with the frames, you can also use a passenger seat frame, it will be real cheap to get a "cloth" passenger side seat of whichever type you need for next to nothing and just swap your leather covers and a much better end result
I have some leftover foams frame etc if anyone wants them and can collect in Herts for a donation to the forum.
