must be soul destroying,
it just reminds me of the 3 little pigs story where the one who made his house of of wood had the big bad wolf huff and puff and blow it down.
Why do they not use bricks? we do in the UK , even though we don't get regularly visited by a big bad wolf like they do in America.

I also cannot understand why they persist in keeping he electricity supply above ground too.

Tony.

You can't make roofs out of brick, the walls are pretty much intact.

Cost of burying electric underground would be astronomical. Probably costs more over time to keep it on poles, IMHO.
And, brick/cement block houses have no flex in high wind. They will crack/explode in F4 or F5 tornadoes.

Nature letting us know who's still boss.
Very scary, and agree its soul destroying, like flooding. :(

Wood used for building as its a readily available resource. Easy to repair when things like this happen too. They can also be warmer.
Those houses damaged were brick construction.

I'd agree about the costs of burying cables, its big place over there, and rural communties well spread out. In urban areas its different though.

Agree re the cables but if they put them underground piecemeal, as they needed repairing, it would be one less to repair in the next storm and less danger of people being electrocuted. Shingles come off easily, they are using tiles on roofs more and more in central Florida. I read that at least 6 people lost their lives yesterday. Very sad.

Tony.
