A friend had one and wrote it off booting it at the end of a sliproad onto a dual carriageway.
did 360 twice and hit the Armco each time on different sides..
He floored it on the slip road and the turbo kicked in on the dual carriageway.. there's turbo lag.... and there's tomcat lag
 
Interesting Tony and do remember them but Rover were getting a slating so didn’t pay that much attention to the 220. Wife did buy a ZR later on and ours was very reliable for about 4yrs. Then went on to VW GTI, Polo. Says it all really.:bored:

The MG Montego and Maestro were very similar to that and talk about torque steer, especially when the engine oil had done it's work on the front lower arm rear bushes:eek:
