A new breaker bar arrived this morning and had to find a space for it.
4off 22mm pipe clips later, found the only place it would go along the edge of the first shelf. Thought I better have one in advance of the heavy stuff I plan to do later in the year.
Definitely running out of room

One thing I would like clarified, are 6 point sockets better than 12 point? As all but one of my 1/2” drive sockets are 12 point ( and now fairly old and well used) not sure if I should get a set of 6 point ones.

Very neat and tidy. IMHO 6 point better as they are less likely to round off the nut.

You can also get what are called "flank drive" six point sockets which are designed to drive on the flats of nuts and bolts rather than the "corners".
I can't think of one fastener on a Z3 where you would need to use a 12 point socket to be honest, but, IF you find any square fasteners ie coach bolts/screws a 12 point will drive those.

Tony.

I am convincing myself to get a set of six point sockets.........I’ve seen a set of 6 point , 10 - 32 mm , deep, impact sockets for 30.00, Any good ???? or should I just look for a set of normal chrome vanadium 6 point ones??

I dont have an impact driver, but I know someone that does ( @Alan Slade )=))=))=))

In general with impact sockets, the cheaper they are the thicker the sidewall are and sometimes this can be a problem if the fastener doesn't have enough clearance. I bought a set of Bergen 1/2" drive deep impact sockets 27 years ago and never have broken one and I have tried :). Have a look for Bergen on eBay Malc.

Tony.

Yes mate, a better set than I bought for £25 all those years ago. My set didn't have 15 or 18 sizes (they weren't very common at all when I got that set) and only went up to 30mm. So you get 3 sizes I've had to buy separately. I would buy that.

Tony.

I have a set of impact sockets you can borrow any time with the impact wrench. I haven't used them myself yet, but you are welcome.

Thanks for the offer Alan, but I have been looking at my sockets this morning and think I need to replace them. Plus....might as well treat myself. ( Along with a garage mat, E46 armrest to mod and fit, the breaker bar, and £700.00 worth off springs, all front and rear bushes, discs, pads, shocks, top mounts, and other bits to to a full refurb.)=))

Jeuss Mazza are those tools for show or do you use them ? :D

I could never find what I wanted when it was all in the toolbox...so decided to make them accessible.
Plus It make me clean them....and I know if I’ve lost anything or left it in the engine

Oh and being retired got too much time on my hands =))

I have 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2inch sockets and various extensions, flexible extensions etc and I have used them all on my Z3. Funnily enough one of the trickiest jobs was last week undoing a jubilee clip to remove the rubber intake pipes, due to the position of the tensioner, only possible with a didy ratchet and 6mm socket.

That looks superb Malc, you have made my OCD very happy:D

Those tools look very impressive @Mazza all neatly arranged. Just a bit worrying, are all the spacings carefully measured? Are all the towels in the house similarly arranged? I've seen films with stuff like that !!
