what are the roads like in the snow? Im bieng forced to go on a family do up near there next friday and im determined to spend a few hours of it driving over the pass. Just dont want to drive all the way up in the snow and be off at the first bend if the havnt been gritted or anything.

Do you mean this Friday Dan or next week?

We've (Manchester Boroughs) got snow coming in from the west that will hit by Friday this week but we're also predicted some sleet. The problem is the RST's are not getting up over freezing so even with gritting (which has clearly happened looking at the pictures) damp roads and freezing temperatures make for hazardous driving.

This weather is likely to continue west especially worse over high ground.

will be going up on friday 10th so 9 days. If the roads are gritted then thats fine but a 2 hr drive to find a road ankle deep in snow would be a bit of a downer. I'll be keeping an eye on weather but i wasnt sure how well maintained that road is.
