I went to fit a new rubber grommet and the bloody thing fell inside the rear wing and rolled all the way down. :mad:Any suggestions on how to get it out without taking my car apart?

It's currently somewhere here

Also what are these called? It was a surround to the rubber grommet and lay on the body of the car.

It came with the car, 6 months after buying it I took the car to a paint shop to get a quote on a respray and the bloke there thought there was rust underneath that piece. He took it off and there wasn't any rust... Naturally I put it back on (I think it was used to mask the dying rubber grommet).

Anyway, I took it off today and guess what, there's rust.... :rage:

Today has just been one of those days. :banghead:

You should be able to get at it through the boot by removing the access panel.

That other bit is not required mate if you have the correct grommet

@BMBabe Thanks mate. :) the reason I'll need the other bit is to temporarily cover the rust now as it annoys me

Which bit do I need to remove?

And above is why I need the piece to cover the rust.

Found the grommet, had to remove the rear light, now it's a case of finding out what that piece is called.

What what piece is called ?
I think the carbon but has just held water and caused the rust in the hot weather

When I say things aren't going well today this is what I mean, the screw holding the mast of the aerial has broken now...

The carbon bit - I need to know what it's proper name is so I can buy another one. :)

In the end I put everything away and left the job unfinished. Heck I've replaced both control arms on a zed, replaced all pads multiple times, fitted a new clutch, but for some reason changing a rubber grommet, a job that should take about 10 minutes, took me two hours and in the end I couldn't even fit the bloody thing as the screw broke.:mad:

Rant over.

@spurs fan in a coupe Don't suppose you have said screw somewhere? it's the 7mm type.

Sorry to hear things never seem to go to plan on these cars especially if not really very mechanically minded good luck with your fixes.

The carbon bit is not oem its gonna be something thats been made by someone or an aftermarket company im not sure its got a name mate

Looks like a homemade washer

Hi mate, I'd ditch the carbon washer thingy gently rub down the rust apply some Kurust and apply some touch up paint let dry and fit grommet , would tidy it up until you spray car, as for the broken screw use a 7 mm nut and bolt

It's an "Escutcheon", a term used for a bit of stuff to cover a hole, switch cut out or surround a panel light sort of thing, your example looks home made or just a fluke someone found it fitted.I agree with Bampz, get rid of it as water will creep under it.
