One more polishing question if I may !!

When your buffing after applying the polish do you use a sponge, felt and wool pad to buff to a finish ??

I just know I'm going to want to give the car one last polish before I put it away for winter !!

If we're talking about machine polishing pads then I always favour foam pads, or lake country foamed wool for really intensive correction or if I'm working on a car with really hard lacquer.
The Meg's microfibre system is ok but I've always found myself going back to foam & rotary!
Lots of new 'fads' will come & go but I still think a rotary & some skill will always win through:)

Happy polishing!

I only said micro fibre as he wanted it to remove polish that had been applied by hand.

Rather than using a microfibre cloth to remove.

If not I misread the original post.

Thanks gents as always a prompt reply and some great info, I have a festoon rotex polisher which I think is a little like a DA and I apply the polish with a foam pad with the festool and wanted to know what you guys use to buff it off

I always see the pro's on the tv car programs use these wool mop heads and wondered is that the way to get the ultimate shine !!

I guess I'm getting a little anal with this detailing polishing malarky !!!

If I wanted to remove it, I'd do it by hand.

This removal will be easy if you have prepared the paintwork correctly.

A machine isn't needed for this stage In my opinion.

Ahh I see!
Yes I'd always suggest removing polish residue from the panel with a microfibre by hand. The yellow EuroW/DetailersPreference ones I find are just right in terms of the thickness of the pile. Keep the super plush ones for removing sealant/wax :)
