Little update from last weekend. We removed the boot lid and delivered to our local body guys. We also removed both seats to rebuild the seat bushes.

The abs issue is still baffling us so she’s getting a visit to the BMW techs themselves, handy having friends in the right places.

You're quite right Malc, I would stick my neck out and say that a very big majority of current BMW "Technicians" have never even worked on a Z3 and probably very few on an E85 Z4. Just a fact of life.

Tony.

Yay! Boot lid finally done. Every painter in the area is mega busy. This now leaves the ABS light issue so next week I’m popping in to see the BMW guys in Hook with their big fancy computer.

Finally the day has come where we can say she’s finished. Fitted the new boot rams and sorted the ABS system out along with airbag lights. She will be heading back up north later this week if the stars align.

Outstanding! What was the ABS issue in the end ?

Quite interesting really. There is two types of rear ABS sensors best described as blue connector and silver with slightly different fitting so you cant mix them but in our case they had the same connector 'Odd' so the ABS unit could see them but was giving a strange fault. It was only by chance I checked them with others we have and made this discovery. This fault came up from being the sent the wrong sensors to begin with, another thing that's starting to become more common. I order all our parts via the cars Vin using realoem so I just assume they're sending us the right part.
