Roof removal (partial)

So to fix my leaking car I am trying to remove the rear section of the roof to review the seals and butyl strip etc etc anyway. I have removed the carpets and all of the 10mm bolts holding the seal in place but cannot get it to budge. I have read online that this is stuck and needs to be encouraged, but from where, with what implement and how much force? I have got a screwdriver from within the car and in many places that can slide up between the seal and the body, when prying it, I get a little movement but not much and am using a fair amount if force. Should I attack from the outside?

Finally anyone know the part numbers for the seals and how much, thanks again.

Just brute force. I wouldn’t try and pry it out like you’ve done.

Shoulder/back under roof and lift.

A hair dryer may help to soften the butyl.

I would also do it in 2 goes and leave the sealing strip initially. You do that by leaving the 4 (?) recessed bolts in place.

You also need to mask up/protect the rear wings as you’re quite likely to damage them otherwise.

I did think about heat and now understand why you take up, thanks guys. Let's see how it goes ......
