I have just read on another forum that if you have a new roof fitted it is best not to open it for 3 or 4 weeks. Apparently this allows it to fit to the frame properly. Is this true?

I've never heard that before.

I would think that the roof installer would advise you of anything that would affect it's use at the point of sale / fitting.

Yes, you are right and I will obviously take note of what they say. Just wondered if anyone had heard of it.

...Both I've had fitted have said 24 hours is long enough...
Agree Dave, I had the 3.0 done earlier in the year at Jack Smiths. He also said just keep it closed for 24hrs.

I don't know but I know a man who will........Jim the Trim at Autotrim in Denton. Lovely fella with years of experience, when I replace my roof Jim will be doing it.

Both Swansea and Croydon get my recommendation, I've used each of them and you get same quality and workmanship with both. Swansea is cheaper and you get the relief pockets as standard, Croydon is more expensive plus some extra if you want relief pockets or a different colour. Both guys told me to leave mine closed for 24 hours. Just take some ear defenders if you go to Jack Smiths, Ray (I think is his name) likes to use the occasional f word =))

Thanks for that. Do they use the existing inner liner?

Had mine done a couple of years ago at Monsoon near Brighton, fabulous job. Yes they also recommended to keep it closed for at least a day or two. I kept it closed for a week though.

Likely a job best done in the summer as it might shrink when cold (the hood).
