Road very busy again.

This long weekend will be the acid test, if people dont play ball the Police Force (it's not a service), shall enforce the law to the great unwashed. Listened to the Chief Constable for Northants (a bit of a legend and well respected guy and ex RN). They're ready to start properly clamping down.

There will be some that think it OK to continue to ignore what's going on. Sadly it detracts from those legitimately going about necessary work. They will sadly get caught up in police checks, delayed, and even more stressed.

Like I said elsewhere - a fine is too simple for clear and deliberate actions. The threat of 1,000 hours community service to be done in the next 18 months would likely focus attention - starting with being a porter in a hospital starting tomorrow.
Same with those using the empty roads as racetracks. But first, take them with their vehicle and let them watch it being crushed. Doesn't matter if it isn't their own - let them explain to the owner why their car has been transformed into a 1m block. Let them learn that with freedom comes responsibility - and a long walk home!

We've had several boy racers in cars and on bikes today and they are the exception as most people appear to driving more slowly now.

Tony.

and tightening of the restrictions removing the allowed exercise time.

good,
They should do as they have in France, excercise when it's dark. that will stop the sunbathers and park visitors.
I wonder how many bicycles have not turned a wheel for 2 years, but are out every day now.....

excercise my arse...

Same with people out walking the local streets. Never seen most of them out on foot. Am sure many would never dream of going for a walk in normal times. Most with kids many of which have never walked the mile to/from school that I’ve seen at that time of day.

I take the dog out last thing before bed. Last night at 11ish there’s a whole family walking the opposite way. First time in probably 2 years that I’ve seen someone else out at that time (except coming from the pub the opposite way). Maybe they’re doing the French thing

It’s been quite quiet here this morning so far :)
Normally on a Saturday I can hear a bit off traffic ;)
Hope people abide by the rules today :)

I live closeby a waterway and hardly ever see anyone walking here. Yet, now it’s like Piccadilly Circus!!!! The pathways are too small, less than 2ft in places and on average, to allow Social Distancing but the hoards are out. Needless to say, it is a walk I normally do but haven’t and won’t with these Idiots walking it.

Hopefully the message is beginning to sink in.
Government messages need to be clear - going out has to be for only something you (or someone else) need(s) rather than what you simply want.

I think the exercise thing is in itself becoming part of the problem. Going without for 6 weeks is unlikely to harm anyone. Many are now using it as an excuse to do things they would never of dreamed of two months ago. That’s preventing those of us that did from continuing to do so. Frustrating

Dead as night here

Hope you left the brake on 'Old Neddy' there ;)

That's our cottage on the left, the one with the wonky telegraph pole outside.

The kids are out again

This is the house opposite the pub where the lady is standing in the doorway. Our local milkman lives there now

My road is very busy today as it was on Saturday. Had to pop to get essentials on Saturday so opted for late - Morrisons car park was 80% full at 7:30pm and no control of numbers into the store. A quick drive around the car park and off again with a quick pop into Co-Op but NO social distancing or control of numbers into the shop resulted in a “normal” evening by customers and store assistants alike. I hated it! Will not be going again.
I did notice how very busy the roads were and the amount of people who were out looking to be cruising and road racing. I was very glad to get home!

Sad consequence because of others unable to follow advice.
Will be lots of people working on and supporting CNI. Many no longer use liveried vehicles for personal and vehicle security so are invisible to most, so, thanks for keeping things going and for accepting the nuisance and frustrating of being stopped with good grace.
