I saw him and the diddy men in panto at the Palace Manchester in the 1960s.....great fun and I still remember the Dicky Mint toy I was bought in the foyer afterwards.

Amazing chap, such energy, saw him a few times and just cried with laughter ! Even last night watching a bit on the TV when it showed part of his 'Ventriloquist' act. He argues with 'Dicky Mint' about glue, it's brilliant. For those of us of a certain age Sunday afternoon radio was compulsory listening, Ken Dodd Show, Round the Horne, Navy Lark etc.etc.

I liked his comment of the tax 'issue' he had,
due to being required by the Inland Revenue, whereas he lived by the seaside so it didn't apply.
