Harry Billinge: Cornwall D-Day veteran dies aged 96 - BBC News

As a local resident we kind of considered him 'ours' -any weekend I went in to our local indoor market I would see him collecting for the British Legion.
Of course he would have said the real heroes were those who didn't come home - now he is with his mates who were left behind.
RIP Harry.

Sadly by the end of this decade there probably won't be any ww2 vets left and a generation of brave men and women will be forever be consigned to the history books.
