3 litre Z3 pretending to be Italian exotica. Two previous E89 Z4s.
Both my DSC sensors (under the passenger carpet) have been sat in a puddle of water for god-knows how long and have fried so throwing faults and lights on the dash.

I phoned my favoured (!) BMW dealership to get a cost for new ones yesterday. The 'big' one (rotational rate sensor) is £744 including VAT and the other one (lateral sensor) is £182!

£926 for two sensors! That is frankly ridiculous. Those type of costs could easily make an older car uneconomically viable.

I shall keep an eye out on ebay for used ones!

Mad prices but at least they have them, unlike some of the structural parts of the car BMW deem not worth producing anymore, good luck with your search.

They're probably used on other models too.

Tony.

Get the part number off RealOEM and check the Bay. Not sure why but a lot of parts come out of Eastern Europe and are genuine BMW at a much lower price. You just have to wait a bit.

I have several part numbers, as they have been superseded a few times in 22 years. I am in no hurry, the car ain't gonna be anywhere near a road for quite a while (if ever again)!

The Z3 uses a plastic sensor that is also used on the pre 2000 E46 - but good luck finding an early E46 with DSC.

I sold such a sensor 10 days ago for £150.

After 2000 the E46 used a metal sensor. It might work but I've never tried.

I am not going to be the guinea pig at the costs we are talking about! ;)

I can get both sensors (used but guaranteed) for around £250. Still seems a lot for two second hand sensors!
