Anyone in the Lytham St Annes area know a good respray/body shop. My 1999 Red Z3 is fading in various areas and needs a respray. I have had the Z for 12 years and still think it's a great looking car and would like to restore it.

Red is the worst colour for fading, ask a detailer to have a look first, may be it only need a deep paint polish. Just a thought, might save you a fortune:)

As above faded paint can be restored as new if it isn't too bad.

If not a whole re-spray could cost a fair amount.

You get what you pay for normally.

Have tried local detailer, they say it's to far gone so it would be a respray. That's why I thought that someone local might know of a body shop that might do a reasonable job, but having said that the Z also requires tyres, wheel refurb, exhaust, brakes etc. So it looks like it will be uneconomical to have it resprayed and repaired.

That's a lot of work, shame:(

How do you put a price on uneconomical to repair? If you've had it a long time it doesn't owe you anything and if you want to keep it once it's restored it will be like a new car.

True, but if you spend all that money on it you have to keep it a few years, and enjoy it.

You said you've had the car for 12yrs and want to restore it. I read that as you would like to keep it.

Other than the refurb of the wheels all the work is within the scope that even a novice can perform the labour maybe with a little assistance from someone close by. I would get a second opinion on the detailed paint. There are a couple of people that are members that can, if they aren't close by, give you recommendations on who to call. Try Chris @Summit Detailing or @Sean@f5detailing whom I've personally used and who is working on my second car now! HTH JIM

Hi Pete, Thanks for your reply. I have found someone to spray the car, I had remembered a guy who had done a job for me on a company car I had a few years ago, and he did a great job so it goes in today. Have you got the car yet ? and where abouts in St Annes are you ?

fare enough! Not yet, I will be getting it within the next couple of weeks, currently waiting on an MOT for it. Just opposite Royal Lytham Golf course :) yourself?

Hi PeteZ3. Dorset Road, so quite near. Would love to see it, so let me know when you get it. Sorry about the respray job I would have had a quote but I had already given a deposit for paint.

We are pretty close (im on Beauclerk). Thats a bit of a shame, He would have given you a good price too, yeah that sounds good! Ill be getting a partial respray too (the arches are bubbling). what color is your zed? Ill have seen you driving around no doubt!

It's Red, It's mainly my wife's car, but I do all the cleaning and polishing. It has a Black hard top on at the moment as I haven't taken it off yet for the summer, also due to the fact my garage was full and I had no where to store it.
