Hi guys,

I’m close to purchasing a RED hardtop for my palmetto green ‘98 2.8 but wondered if anyone knows how straightforward getting a paint shop to colour match it would be?

I would rather go for the same colour as opposed to going neutral, black, white, silver etc. However, I don’t really want a close match that looks wrong either.

In short, is the paint still available from BMW?

Cheers guys,
Steve.

If you go a a decent body shop that can scan your cars paint and mix paint to match exactly allowing for age/paint fade etc.

Thanks for the reply Nodzed.

I’m understandably nervous about spending so much and it not ending up right.

What do you think is a likely ballpark figure for this job? I’m in the UK.

It will cost a fair amount but will look spot on if done correctly. Especially if you get the body shop to polish the rest of the car.
Dont know wher you arebut i use kraft work Essex.
Just look at other work the body shop does to see the results and type of car they typically work on.

I’m in Basildon so not too far as it looks as though they are Roxwell. Yeah they look pretty good. I guess I’ll give them a shout on Tuesday. Thank you Richard.

I had sills and stone chips done and a polish last year, excellent. And Dave who runs it is a proper perfectionist.
You will probably see ferraris, mclarens and all sorts in there for paint work.
