I really struggle with winter, I tend to close myself away and do very little until spring starts looming.
With regards to the zed it goes under the carport, battery disconnected and completely forgotten about. Not the best thing to do I know but I have no get up and go whatsoever until we start getting a bit of light back in the evenings. As the car has got to be up and out of bed in a fortnight I thought I'd nip out and connect the battery and give it a whirl.
I was seriously impressed with the result. I did video it but it won't load, anyways it barely turned and fired straight up. Complete respect for a 20 year old car!! Roll on spring :)
 
Just uncovered my Z3 for a couple of days of dry weather to let it breathe.
Forgot how dam good it looks, still keeping the 4 though so soon be time to let the Z3 go.
 
Yup, leave mine for weeks on end and fires into life first time mate. Lovely day for washing cars today mate, baltic, windy and even a flurry of snow ............. so Freelander wash it was with new toys :D

My friend used to struggle with the winter :p
It's a medical condition :(
She had a special lamp/light which was meant to give her " more go ":)
Look it up it might help you :)

I'm on stong Vit-d on prescription Shelly to keep me going. Really hate it but it's coming to a close soon so things are looking brighter now. Zed will be out soon. :)

Oh, and I had to read that twice as I first took it that you had VD ....
Well, you know, being a truck driver and all that, you get around the country a bit .... ;)
 
I’ve had mine in the garage since November with one run out to date. Year before last I was able to get the odd run out on a dry day from November through to end of February. One day only so far. Waiting patiently!

I know what your saying grumps winter does my head in too,thankfully the nights are drawing out,and its still light around 5.30 ish,,I've been working hard on my Zed over the last few months,as it's not been on the road since the end off September last year,I'm looking forward to the start off April to get her out again.

Yep it's coming now Jimmy, couple more weeks and I reckon I'll be able to get the bike out for an hour after work.:)
 
My cars get used most days, all year round. They are just as much fun in the dark, cold weather folks, just need a bit more washing but all bits work as they should when used regularly.:thumbsup:

I would love to have winter drives out Ian but I see the damage the salt does to my truck over winter, airline connections dried out that much you struggle to connect them up, surface rust all over the chassis, I can't afford to replace the zed when my MOT man tells me it's rotten so I'd rather just tuck it away for a few months each year to protect it.

Fair enough, and I know a lot of other people share your viewpoint. To my mind, the benefits of hibernation are out weighed by the downsides. In particular, you don't get to use the car (which I consider a daily pleasure all year around) and things tend to go wrong with my cars when they are left standing, especially in terms of batteries, electrics and even corrosion. Likely extensive "winterization" would mitigate most if not all of these issues. Just my opinion of course, based of personal observation and experience of running many "old cars" over the years. All that said, I have come to use the MC less in adverse weather in recent years, but the Z3 lives outside and does much of the daily work.:thumbsup:
