Replace the key fob...

Morning ladies and gents in the north, and afternoon in the south..
Right.. parts are starting to roll in and once on i'll post a pic or two.. roof is new and on.. armrest is in, storm knob arrived this morning and carbon magnetic strips are ordered.
The central locking and the related loom of doom are being addressed but the 97 z3 keyless entry brick is dead.. had a fight with a reversing car and lost.. does anyone know if i can by a replacement and reprogram this or is it a little hard given the age of the unit and probably worth updating the entry system? Ive not been able to find the "brick" anywhere yet and most posts seem to be about reprograming..
Speaking to BMW apparently it is an aftermarket bmw system on the earlier z3's. They tried to making a key and buttons work with no luck.
Thoughts appreciated.

If no one on here has one they want to sell then they do come up on eBay from time to time. If you can get one you can sync the new one to your car easily enough, there is a copy of the manuals in the article section.

Look at Ebay item number 331917986016 £29.99 and number 131920362272 £39.95.
Be careful as I got advise here to buy but it was the wrong one but I think that these two are right but please check them out first.
As a result of my posts on here a club member sent me one FOC. Its a great club so see what happens.
