Remove rear screws (X 2),
Remove front screws in side flaps (X 2 each side)
Remove ashtray, bulb and screw underneath
Remove gearknob, handbrake cover and gaiters
Remove headunit and screws inside the console (X1 each side and X2 at the top which are quite hard to see)
Push out heater controls from the tabs at the top
Push out all switches, remove and tuck wiring back through
Remove wiring from cigarette lighter (X 2 plus bulb)
Remove wiring from OBC
Remove wiring from unit on passenger side flap
Lift up from the rear and push the top of the console down at the front so it goes underneath the dashboard and you are able to push it forward so you can get it clear of the handbrake, then pull it back towards the rear of the car so it can be lifted out. Don't be scared if the side flaps bend they are pretty strong and can be pulled and pushed about abit against the centre tunnel when removing.
Find the first aid kit to patch up all the skin removed from your hands

Probably forgot something but that's pretty much how it goes

Great description of the removal technique ! I done my the hard way with no instructions and found the screws as I went. Only when it was removed I found the logical sequence.

The end result should look like this ;)

Thanks for the help guys, I am fitting an amp lead from the H U to the underside of the passenger seat so only need to remove the lower bit, however this thread will come in handy when I remove it to be dipped.
