Yesterday I came down to Basingstoke to @Lee (Zedshed Soooooooooooouth) for some surgery to the zed.
He's had rear beam bushes, front and rear top mounts, new shocks all round and rear brakes, Seafoamed, oil service and service lights reset.
When Lee test drove the car we hadn't even got to the end of his street when he said "this feels awful"!
After meeting up with other attendees who had volunteered to help at the local butty van we went back at a steady pace
and got stuck in. All went well and the axle had been dropped from the car in and hour and a quarter, apparently that's a new record for the Sooooooooth shed, of course North would have had it out in 20 minutes
. @t-tony what they keep saying about North drinking tea mate forget it, its on tap here! @Shortie_gal was out almost hourly with a tray of tea and there was the midday run to Starbucks for coffee!
Anyways all went well and the car was finished by teatime.
I have a give the guys a massive Thank You for all their hard work, @Lee @Mnbrennan, @Oldguysrule, @pgunter, @Rally they all worked so hard and as a team they work brilliantly together. You all did me proud, thank you!!
The car drives better than it has in the 5 years I've owned it, the rear beam bushes were completely shot and 3 out if the 4 shocks were doing nothing, the rear top mounts were well passed their best so to get it all done at once the difference to the car is night and day.
Here's a few pics of the day.
Pulled in the shed ready for action:
Up we go!
One of many tea breaks!
Now a little scared! Axle dropped.
New bushes going in.
And finally the Seafoam being ran through, stand clear, it chokes the hell out of you and it stinks vial!
There are still a couple of bits that Lee found I need to get sorted as the budget wasn't there and we hadn't the parts available. Namely, front and rear drop links and a new anti roll bar as mine is very rusty.
Once again a massive Thank you to all concerned and I'm looking forward to the drive home this morning to get a real feel for how it now drives.
I'm one very happy grumps........but don't tell anybody!
