Does not look too good for my liking. Will post some pictures soon. You don't need to replace the rubbers / seals if they are OK

What does that "strange cable" look like? You don't mean an electrical cable do you? You mean a metal cord kind of thing. In the roof, either side, there's a tension cable. Not sure what it's called. It's there to hold the roof tight to the frame. If your's is hanging out then the roof on that side would kinda feel loose and not seal.I will still need to asses but things does not look right nor tight there with strange cable coming from underneath the roof on the drivers side. I will do some pictures and post here.

Having a new roof fitted would refit/retension the cable. I don't know if the new roof includes new cable.
Somewhere on the forum there's roof fitting instructions. Paragraph in there describes that cable and how it's supposed to be hooked.
I would try a clean and then gummi pflege first. But if you're not happy with them replace themDoes not look too good for my liking. Will post some pictures soon.
Cool, will do that. Can you see though this cord on the right side? One on the other side was just sticking out and I though first it was little old branch lolI would try a clean and then gummi pflege first. But if you're not happy with them replace them
Just ordered itWhat needs doing, I always treat my rubber seals with Gumipledge rubber conditioner at least twice a year, it plumps them up for good sealing

Will need to investigate that then. I am booked in August for the roof replacement in Swansea (4h drive from where I am ) but this needs addressing ASAP I think. If that's the tension cable hanging . . . .

. . . then you need to be looking at softtop fitting instructions to see how it attaches to the frame. See if you can reattach it. Maybe replace it? Might be a fiddly job.
oh that's a good point. Let me confirm that because it would be silly to do the same job twice. It’s the tension cable..get a new one but replace it when you get the roof done as I think it needs riveting in place.
Thanks for advice and help! For what they are the cables aren’t that cheap either so ‘do once’ would be my advice
I was referring to the rubber seals not the tension wire, Gummi won't help with thatCool, will do that. Can you see though this cord on the right side? One on the other side was just sticking out and I though first it was little old branch lol
I understood, ordered Gummi for the seals and will wait with the tension wires after the new roof is done.I was referring to the rubber seals not the tension wire, Gummi won't help with that
Fair point.Maybe send a text to the roof guy asking if he fits new tension cables or uses the old ones. If he always uses the existing ones he might not have any on the shelf when he does your roof.
Do you know if he replace tension cables as part of the roof replacement or if he uses old ones?Welcome aboard, as the others have already said Jack Smith at Swansea for a replacement roof but has a waiting list. Probably a night away if you use him, it only takes a day so you can explore Swansea whilst its fitted. As @Nodzed says most of your answers to your questions already on here if you do a search.
