Hello to ya all, I am new to this forum but am interested in the brand and future advice and ideas going forward.
I have a BMW Z3 2.2 roadster. And we have owned it from new June 2001. It’s the most reliable car we have had.
However, one or two things are starting to crop up.
The soft top leaks around the side Windows in heavy rain, the rear plastic window is creased and the seals and fixing beading etc starting to look a bit scruffy. Is there a recommended repair or replacement company in Hampshire/Dorset? What sort of price is a full replacement?
The rear boot gas struts have failed.
The handle on drivers side is awkward sometimes to open and no and again the power windows don’t always work smoothly.
It goes in for a MOT next week so we will see if anything else is iffy!

All advice and suggestions are appreciated

regards

Patso

:welcome: If you use the search you will find answers to all these questions, that said here's a start

  • Boot struts can be found at SGS, just bought some, better than ebay cheapies but not cheap, and I would recommend the metal ends rather than the plastic ones. SGS Z3 Boot Struts
  • Gummi Pflege the window seals, it may help OR the windows may need adjusting via the bolt on the underside of the door to bring them tighter into the seals
  • Rear window crease I would say a replacement or live with it (others may have a solution)
  • Window beading - never seen a successful or pretty repair thus far. (see above)
  • Silicon spray on the window runners will vastly improve window operation (don't use WD40 or such like)
  • Can't help ref the handle ..sorry.

For a replacement roof there are 2 preferred options for most on here 1) Jack Smith in Swansea’s
Cheap (£400 ish) , good quality, long waiting list
2) http://soft-tops.co.uk/index.php/Soft-tops-co-uk soft tops in Croydon. Bit more expensive but closer. (£700 ish)

Welcome aboard, as the others have already said Jack Smith at Swansea for a replacement roof but has a waiting list. Probably a night away if you use him, it only takes a day so you can explore Swansea whilst its fitted. As @Nodzed says most of your answers to your questions already on here if you do a search. Tip update your User details to show your location and model of Zed including year, it assists us when answering your posts since we are Worldwide and you may have other members close by if you ever need a hand.

Thanks already dealing with with SGS
So hopefully get struts sorted this week. Also ordered all the Gummi and silicone to assist the side window and will check the adjustable screw and see if that works.
I live in The New Forest, Hampshire and the car is a 2001 Z3 2.2 roadster, so any one near it would be great to chat. I also have a 2006 Range Rover Vogue but having massive hassles with air suspension and lots of other hassles. Would love to offload it !

.......... will check the adjustable screw and see if that works.
Suggest you carry out other tasks/checks before making alignment adjustments.
Also look at this:

You are not far from Zedshed HQ so it's worth making contact with them, they are always up for a chat on the their thread.

I have booked my Z3 with Jack. R. Smith and the earliest app was on the 6th of August wow. They are very busy! Could anyone just clarify for me as well they only do the material change and all of the seals rubbers etc must be done before hand correct?

Thanks!

You don't need to replace the rubbers / seals if they are OK

What needs doing, I always treat my rubber seals with Gumipledge rubber conditioner at least twice a year, it plumps them up for good sealing
I will still need to asses but things does not look right nor tight there with strange cable coming from underneath the roof on the drivers side. I will do some pictures and post here.
