Recommendations for Leather colour change products

Looking to get the red leather in my zed back to the original black colour.

The red is wearing off and black showing thru making it look dirty and cheap.

Need a decent product that will change the colour completely, and look the dogs when done, but there just seems to be masses of products out there to choose from, from a few £ to over £75 ,,, never had any experience with this, but I'm sure some of you guys do, so c'mon, what did you use and has it proved to be decent and long lasting, would like to order some this week as I've booked the sun for next weekend

Timely topic.
Seems liquid leather an furniture clinic are popular brands.

I've just bought some black dye from liquid leather to refresh my sports seats (luckily the all black so easy).
I see the best way is to airbrush and that put me off but now see that you don't need fancy equipment as aerosol cans can do the job for small projects.
I wondering is this will do the trick:

Of course with this you still need tinny some air, about £7 for 750ml

I wonder had anyone tried these hobby type sprayers? Got to be better than a sponge finish (and quicker especially for a single colour with no fine masking?)

To anyone who's used leather recolouring products, how does it stand up to cleaning?

Most leather comes coated with a clear coat quite in the same way as the paintwork.
This clearcoat on leather car seats makes cleaning the leather easy as a lot of cleaning products that would be no good for cleaning your leather furniture at home can indeed be used safely on your car seats.
So I'm wondering how these sort of product stand up to both cleaning chemicals and light scrubbing?

I've been looking at a small compressor and spray system, only £50 or so,. But looking at the above, the finish by using a sponge is very good

Q2. How much colourant would it take to do 2 seats ?

Not much guidance as to coverage on the site.
I have gliptone cleaner and conditioner already as used it to clean my old shogun sport

Yeah all coats with a sponge and I brought 250ml of each colour but used most of the lighter colour.
Handbrake and gear giator have been coloured from black to beige so you can dye dark to light just takes alittle time to cover.

I borrowed an airbrush compressor but found it hard work to cover and messy so stuck with the sponge.

That kit will work fine @Dino D similar to what I borrowed and it's what Paul Rice used on his.

I use liquid leather mild cleaner and it has always enabled me to just wipe clean mines been dyed 18 months now and still looks fine and it's a light colour.

I have done one of my seats using the spray 1st off but that was an abortion of a job re rubbed it down and went on @Antm72 advice adn sponged it on and got a lot better finish. The spray i would only use if you take the seats out of the car and spray in an enclosed space with plenty of masking off. Be careful of the remover as if it gets on the plastic it will totally discolour it. (as i found out)

Well that's good news, I say mention of a sprayer so thought that's how you got the finish. If it came out that nice on beige I can't go far wrong with black then I don't think.

@Sean d just spent 20 reading that thread,utterly awesome, what a job.. Kinda had me bricking it when I read 'acrylic thinners' lol

As mines were originally black and dyed red, I think the thinners bit may be good to get rid of the red and start with nice clean open pores in the leather..

Glad you enjoyed it pal, you won't need the thinners, Furniture clinic provide a cleaning product, don't skimp at any stage, good luck
