It depends if you have 4 fronts or 4 rear as to what spacer you fit, I think

Hi, I have not done anything about spacing as yet as I shall probably look at lowering the car by 30 mm first

I have two sets of TPI 12mm spacers if needed. Having a garage clear out currently. So will offer these in the For Sale pages soon anyway.

Pms on their way gents.

I dont have longer bolts unfortunately as when i bought the set of four they came off an M5 which had bolts with different thread :(

They are 5x120 hub centruc with 72.6 centres (fit Z3)

Exactly :) i think.
Given the fact i bought the wrong bolts with the set originally, I am going to defer to someone's better knowledge on the std length of 27mm(?). One thing i noticed once when working at another persons place who had a box of spare wheel bolts is that if you go too long (only by a couple - few mm) is the bolt can rub on the wheel inside somewhere.
I picked up the wrong bolt one day and couldn't figure out why i had a sound coming from a wheel as it turned.

So even with my little experience it shows that going correct bolt length is key.

That said a trained eye will jumo on this thread and i welcome the advice.

Too long a bolt will catch on the back plate. How do I know? I know because when I fitted my winter wheels the front spacer stuck to the summer wheel, and when I put the bolts in and spun the wheel before lowering (a habit I have) I heard it.
I can whip one out and measure it tomorrow if needed?

Tony.

Thanks @t-tony

Ahh back plate. I wasnt sure what it hit but did confuse the heck out of me.

Wasnt until i replaced the wheel bolts one at a time that i figured out my mistake.

This mean longer lockers are needed too i guess. When i bought the whole TPI set of four it came with locking bolts. Wrong bl@@dy thread pattern though :(

To be honest, unless you regularly leave your car in a place where theft is likely (I never do) then lock nuts are a waste of time Dave.

Given the amount of universal un-locking kits all over fleaBay I imagine you are right on that front Tony. I don’t have lockers on my DD and don’t give that a thought.
