Hi Zedders,

Has anyone had their Z3 rear callipers refurbished? If you have, which company did them and how are they now?

Cheers.

BigRedd near you not cheap but top quality

I had both front and rear callipers for my M Coupe refurbished by BigRedd they came back like new as everything renewed and tested.
The rears cost £179 inc £14 p/p. That was 2 years ago.
Would highly recommend their service.

Or if you fancy saving a bit of cash and doing the prep work before painting, you can achieve good results yourself. Replacement seals, pistons and bleed nipples are reasonably priced from bigredd but I can see the attraction of having someone doing it for you. Depends on how much you want to spend really.

I have used Past Parts with excellent results. Stripped, blasted and zinc passivate coated then rebuilt with new stainless pistons, seals and fittings.

Worth giving them a call.

Its quite a simple job to do yourself and very satisfying. Done quite a few.

Bigg Red has “transitioned” into a parts only company and no longer do refurb work.

That’s a pity, so looks like either DIY or Past Parts are the options now. Thanks for the information, good to know, I’ll pass it on with the other Forum I’m using.

If you have any DIY skills and ability to do basic maintenance on your car overhauling the calipers yourself is more then possible.

First time I did any I was worried about the safety and other issues. It turned out to be a far easier task then I expected. If you have an air compressor to get the old piston out the only hard work is cleaning and preperation. Assebly is a little fiddly until you learn your own way of getting the dust sheild in. If they are correct the piston pushes in by hand and its as easy as that.

As you're not a million miles from me, if you want to get the seal kit from Biggred (including new bleed nipples) and paint of your choice and prepared to travel down and give a day up (paint needs to dry) I would be happy to refurb them here, or you could remove them yourself and post to me (probably not cheap). Will only cost you the kit approx £32 and some fuel for the drive.

I got this place to do my front calipers - £250, but I supplied the parts from BiggRed via eBay, Quidco and a discount code for £29.

They are very local to me, so there was no delivery. I don't know if they charge for delivery.

Lifetime guarantee for as long as your name is on the V5C.

Thank you! What a fantastic and very kind offer. I’d really like to accept, please. I’ll message you when they are off my Z which should be very soon. Has the paint got to be any specific type of paint?

Thanks for the signpost. I’ll look for these in Ebay, too.
