You simply need to replicate what you take off. Easiest way to do brake pipes is cut the old pipe right next to the union, then, you can put a socket on the union to loosen it (best to use a 6 point socket if you have them). You may need to hold the flexible hose if that is where it connects with a spanner or flat jawed mole grips. A single flare will have a convex end and a double flare has a concave end. HTH.

Hi Guys,

Instead of starting a new thread I'll add to this one.

Just got a roll of kunifer, bender and flaring tool. Do I use single flare or double flare with the flare tool? Looking at what they go into such as brake hoses I'm guessing single flare?

Thanks in advance
I did a lot of research into this when I bought my flare tool. This is the one I bought in the belief it's the correct tool for a BMW Z3. It's described as a "4.75 DIN ISO Bubble Flare". I came to the conclusion that whilst some people use a double flare, the bubble flare was the more correct one. But I don't doubt if people say they use a double flare that's fine too and they may feel it's more correct than my type. I dare say there's a single & double bubble flare too. Dunno! But this is the tool I use succesfully.

@t-tony is the gaffer on this stuff.

Hi and thanks. That's exactly the same tool AND supplier I got mine from. The originals I took off the car look like a single flare/DIN flare and not a double flare. Cheers
