When we got the z3 the roof looked a little jaded so after a good scrub to clean it up we treated it with "renovo" it's really perked it up & was worthwhile doing.

I'm hoping this will get me another year with my current hood. Well this and some silicone sealant around the plastic screen edges.

Really don't want to have to replace the hood as its water tight still.

That's partly why I've just fitted a hard top, to extend the life of the soft top.
It was green in places when we got it, much nicer now :)

Good luck.
I treated my soft top to the full Renovo monte... Cleaner , black colour stain and then sealant.
I couldn't get all the dirt off but it looked much better after the treatment.
Now several months later it's looking sad again.
I wonder if the Autoglym alternative is any better???

I found renovo to be better than AG for recolouring and renovating but I found I had patches that were darker than others, but most likely due to me applying too much.

AG has better water beading though IMO :)

Tried AG & didn't find it brilliant to be fair. Any other members had experience with Renovo or come across anything else? My roof has some kind of dark, almost oil like, marks from when I bought her & haven't found anything that makes any difference. Heaven only knows what the previous owner managed to get on it :(

Anybody tried shoe polish? I'd imagine if you apply it sparingly it would both colour and waterproof the roof.

I remember back in the day when my main form of transport was a motorbike I used to re-wax my Belstaff waxed jacket with tins of wax. I once tried shoe polish on it and it worked just as good, and looked ok too. Once the wax has dried it doesn't come off either.

Autoglym is a good cleaner and then protecting the hood once cleaned but Renovo dye is a brilliant product. I own both, AG seems to bead water better but Renovo will sort out patches

I've tried boot polish on my hood, very difficult to get an even coloured finish.

Maybe thats the way to go.. Both?
MGOC spares push the Renovo products.
I have to do mine this year to perk it up so interested in owners findings on best product results.

I'll try it I think. Let you all know how I get on.

Hi Phil,

My roof has similar marks on it. Maybe it's just the way the colour deals with age?

I'm thinking of experimenting with dying the colour to a slightly brighter red, shouldn't be too difficult I think.
