So I thinks it's been happening to both zeds, but the 3.0 especially the alarm randomly goes off. Literally just gone off again which has prompted me to ask if anyone has any idea what could be the cause?

Try unplugging the bonnet sensor

Usual culprits are bonnet switch, tilt sensor in boot well getting wet and boot lid wiring loom.
Best check out all three. Boot loom usually shows up as bad with random alarm activations and or central locking playing up.
To check for damaged wires in the loom you have to strip the outer cover of the loom to inspect the individual wires. Any broken or chaffed wires should be repaired and wrapped to insulate them from each other to avoid shorts. Heatshrink is probably the best method of insulating them after soldering the broken wires back together.
There seems to be an upsurge in boot loom faults going on at the moment.

Cheers guys, will disconnect bonnet switches tomorrow and look at the looms. Tilt switches should be good as both zeds have new aerial grommets
