If we want a bit more fast an furious then a blast down A3 to Horndean onto the B2149 into Emsworth. The Sussex Brewery used to be a good pub there. Then A27 (yes I know those roundabout at Chichester are annoying) then either 1) onto the A285 at Slidon back upto to Petworth then A283 to Chiddingfold (another watering hole at the Crown or bring your own afternoon tea) but relative easy to park up for a group; or 2) A27 all the way to Fontwell then back up the A29 choice then to split on B2138 / A283/onto Chiddingfold or continue on A29 until Adversane , across onto B2133 and stop at either The Bat and Ball in Newpound or The Onslow Arms in Loxwood or the Sir Roger Tichbourne in Loxwood (Gr8 reviews) to finsh the day up.

A3, A31 to West Meon via A32 then East Meaon (or continue on A31 until you get to the start of the A272) , Langrish, Petworth - A272 across to Wisborough Green then up to Loxwood (driving time is about 1 3/4 hour - 2hrs 10 mins so that's about 4 hours with pit stops/chats/ other stops etc.

The roads over the South Downs are much better when you get of the main routes. Some great places to stop too. Cowdray Park Cafe is good for a coffee stop. Goodwood cafe is now open both in the former control tower and aero building inside the circuit.

Once all the risk of Covid is over, probably next year. The BMW HQ breakfast South Downs to Goodwood will hopefully be back.

If you want some routes. I have them on myroute.

When you organise your runs. It is required that you inform the relevant Police Traffic unit. Hampshire, West Sussex etc. they will normally say a thank you. Just a traffic guy in Midhurst who asks a lot of questions etc. good luck with the fun. Enjoy the drive.

Had a family trip out this week. Started with an 8am school drop off, then on to J10 of the of the M25 to save time as I was running late heading towards a 10am breakfast meeting near Hailsham. Passed a very nice new black Z4 on the M23 then gave up on the motorway near Gatwick. Ended up on a Turner’s Hill Road, then B2028 before joining the A22. Very enjoyable.
Had a lazy brunch at the Village Shop, then headed back up the A22 to Munich Legends. Had a look around, then on to the A272 to Cowfold for a coffee at The Fold Coffee House. Feeling refreshed, we headed to Goodwood via Billingshurst and Petworth. After watching some track day action, headed back up to Midhurst. We then go caught out by Waze and ended up on a series of single track roads which were scenic, and fortunately not very busy. I did need to reverse up a steep hill to avoid pulling off into a muddy ditch to let oncoming cars past at one point. Finally found our way onto the B2130 and stopped at the Inn on The Lake in Godalming for supper. For the final stretch towards home I managed to avoid the A3 going via Shalford and a blast up past Newlands Corner.
Got home just before 8pm after a 40l fill up and 200ml of oil.
