Hi all - question to the group - who can organise an event and is there any special license needed? I was prompted by meeting another Z3 outside my house today - thinking an informal get together for a few non alcoholic drinks and perhaps a convoy drive near here in the South Downs. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, yes anybody can organise an event. No license required though technically Plod should be informed but frankly they aren't interested as they have more pressing issues. Pic a day/date and pop it up on the events page with start/finish point, start/finish time and route. You're best off limiting the numbers to keep control.

Go for it Paul, you don't need anyone's permission. If you go ahead and find it an enjoyable thing to do. Post your next one in the "Forthcoming Events" section. Me and Shirl held an annual one local to us up until Covid and we hope to organise one next year.

Tony.

As Andy says anyone can put a run together Andy does the annual Lakes run and I do the Scottish run .
You just need to decide what you want to do like a one day or 2 day.
If 2 day you'll need to decide on hotels do you want to Group everyone or have a start point people make own booking.
The run itself you need to decide on numbers say you pick 6 then you need to run the route get it timed up so you can work out stops remember every stop 6 cars could be 12 people so to do a run needs a but of ground work to make sure no disasters on the day.
But with a bit of prep it's a great day out .
If you have any questions just ask happy to help.

Stephen.

Thanks guys - anyone else based around here want to help me organise it? Am thinking meet on a Sunday morning for a light breakfast and coffee - drive to somewhere through the South Downs for a coffee stop and regroup - then drive to the final destination for lunch. Paul

Hey Paul where abouts are you? There seems to be quite a few down south on here and sure would support a meet. Where and when were you thinking, see what response you get on here! 👍

You're not supposed to have a 'convoy' so limit numbers and/or split groups.

Hi guys I am in Haslemere. Thinking a Sunday in August or September
Love the roads near you. A particularly nice run is down the A3 past Guildford and then onto the A286 to Midhurst and then A272 to Petworth and towards the McDonalds, then back up the A24.

Or a round robin down from say Guildford Tesco (next to A3) then A286 towards Goodwood ; until you get to singleton turn left into Charlton Road. Through East Dean (couple of good pubs there) across into Droke Lane and then back up the A285 to Petworth. Turn right onto A272 at Wisborough Green (again more pubs) turn left up to Loxwood onto Alfold A281 back up towards the Guildford/A3. Less cross country would be stay on the A272 to Billingshurst then up A29 to the A281 turn left then up through Rudgewick. An alternative route from Petworth would be the A283 towards Pulborough then the A29 (nice and straight) up through Adversane then either up through Loxwood (via Lordings Road and the B2133) or continue on A29 until you get to the A281 then turn left back towards Guildford.

No ideas of timings of the above ...

I am considering arranging one or two...

1 - I have a great day long route that I have used recently that is a re-used /stolen one from a forum member around the Peak District.
2 - Having driven a number of the roads round Ribblehead and the Trough of Bowland again recently for the first time in circa 20 years I am considering a Ribble Valley / Lanacshire / Cumbria trip

Bertie,
Good luck with that it does seems that the Midlands get all the events/run so we are trying to sort something out re Surrey/Sussex/Hampshire region.
