Ok so I know I'm going to get shot down, however if you don't ask.... what are the two buttons for between the seats? Is it power roof, if it is then mine has broken, on a plus note the down arrow dies open the centre chubby hole

If your talking about the push buttons behind you and between the seats, they open the compartments. Upper and lower.

My heated seat buttons are on the console between the seats, if you have a roof switch you need to press the brake pedal first

A pic would be good as there are several variations in where the buttons are located.

Heated seats on mine but some have them at the front.

Have you tried lowering the roof with your foot on the brake, this is a step in the dance.

In the boot on the left side when facing rear to front is the hydraulic pump, on it is a 'T' key that switches the roof from electric to manual and vice versa, could be that, or a fuse.

If the top one isn't working to open the top lid then the catch is duff.

Right good news is the flash on my camera doesn't work. Joy!! Here is a picture, apologies it's a bit brad Pitt. I think one of you mentioned a compartment or two, could the wind deflector prevent access to one of them?

Yep, buttons for the two compartments mate. Looks like access to the top one is impeded slightly by the deflector, but I’d still expect it to pop up if you press the up button, as it looks like there’s room for it to do that. Latch for the upper compartment might be knackered unfortunately

Yep upper arrowed button opens the hinged cubby box lid, wind defletor if oem should have a couple of clips either side with operating buttons in the middle of the lower edge of the wind deflector that allow the bottom to be pused back so you can open the lid. Can't make out what deflector you have in the photo.

I have a perspex wind reflector and as such cannot open the upper storage area but front still opens.

Very true, although my Z3 was a fairly rare beast in that it still had all the original keys with it, including the plastic wallet key.

How useful are these cubbys? My 2002 sport doesn't have them, but has some sort of speaker instead, which either doesn't work or is not there at all. I'd rather have the boxes.

It's a sub-woofer. I took mine out and use it to store SatNav and Dashcam when parked up. Handy storage bin.

Probably not the best person to ask, one is great for small items that will rattle, the other...... well.............
