Do you happen to know anyone who likes to put their feet up on the dashboard as you're driving along? If you do show them this. This is what happens when you have a crash and the airbag goes off.

Not for the squeamish.

They wouldn't dare put feet up on my cars dash they would have a slapped arse

Common with drivers mates on trucks. Makes me cringe when one goes passed.

We see it quite often over in Florida, and worse.

If this isn't an accident waiting to happen, I don't know what is?

Already had a car dashboard pushed in our faces. Had the engine and gearbox follow into my legs follow closely behind. It hurts. It hurts a lot. :meh:
Not contemplating having it done by having my legs smashed up through my body first or having your knees accelerated through your skull.:hungover:
Scares me witless seeing kids with their legs up. Lights out in accident caused by the device intended to save your life.

It always amazes me how many women drivers sit so close to the steering wheel that if the Airbag fires it will ultimately save their life but their faces will be damaged by the plastic.

Tony.

I read this article earlier this evening on MSN page and the injuries look absolutely horrific. I'm sure there will be long term issues from those injuries in years to come.

Most likely will be Pete. My mum had her hip smashed in an accident in 1977 in her Morris 1000 Traveller as she turned right a tanker wagon hit her in the side. She was on traction for many weeks and suffered all her life afterwards.

I’m sorry to read this. That must have been incredibly painful for your Mum @t-tony

You can probably imagine the shape of the Morris Traveller after being hit by a 40 ton Tanker. It was not much short of a miracle she survived at all. For the first few days visiting her in hospital hearing her moan with pain until they reduce the weight of the water bag stretching her leg was pitiful to be honest.

On a slightly different topic, you remember us telling you guys at lunch about our local fund raising efforts for Carla?, well here is a picture of us all on the first one.

A small number of vertically challenged people have been killed by airbags in the early days as it hit them as opposed to them hitting it. Snapped their necks. Modern airbags are more intelligent and sense the distance of the driver and deploy accordingly.
