Protruding wire above rear window

Hello people, brought the zed out of winter hibernation yesterday and noticed a short end of a wire rod protruding at the top corner of the rear window. Rear window and roof is original. Pushed it in and tucked the fabric roof over it and into the window trim.
Just curious as to what the purpose of the wire serves as googled for ages and cannot find any reference to it !!!

Is it a wire on the soft top im guessing, maybe to do with the electric roof if you have one ?

Pushed it back in and reseated the fabric in the trim. Something tells me it's only a matter of time before it pokes out again...

Tried all the recommendations on here but it just got worse, ended up with a new roof from Swansea last December.
Killed two birds as they say , roof looked good for 25 years but when it came off it was obvious it was past it’s sell by date!

All the symptoms you had were the start of impending doom .
Your new roof takes all those problems away

Stephen I'd sooner attempt to remedy the situation now and keep the originality of the car. Other than the wire issue, the roof is in excellent order.
