Been out grovelling on the garage floor this afternoon testing the smaller of the prototypes.
Principle ok and simple to actually fit ( unless old, unfit and dodgy knees )

Bent my existing strap to remove it, which was not difficult as pretty rusty ( will probably be an advise on next weeks MOT) and slid in the new parts. You hang the hook part on the carrier, feed the strap through from the back
and line up the studs and put the nuts on .....simples

Fitted it , but needs to be modified at the rear end. Probably due to the material thickness and that both end piece profiles are slightly different.
In the last photo, the bend needs to be about 10-20mm further along which will change the angle. It is a relatively easy fix and there is nothing in the way of it.
I will have a look at the other strap over the weekend and then go in and see the manufacturing company next week to discuss the mods.

I may also increase the width of the rubber cushioning to match the strap. Wont make any difference to price and will be better.

The cable clip also sorted. Easy push in fit.

One down, one to go ......now where’s that Voltarol =))

PS ........no rear beam or axle was removed during the fitting

A trek up to Banbury today where I found a car with axle and beam removed:whistle:

Mark, @Althulas allowed me to use his car to test the straps on. Weather could have been better, and laying in a ‘river’ made me appreciate my garage at home. Might have been better if I had taken scuba gear !!!=))

Any road, the main strap fits but just needs tweaking a bit. Down to the thickness of material and end profiles.

Also as Marks’ car is a M version it has the additional canister strap that bolts to the smaller strap, which for the ‘M’ has an additional bracket welded on it.

Took it all apart.....(and you need to do it in the right order and support it all), and got some measurements so I may be able to replicate it as an add on part to the normal strap.
Basically just need to have a 6mm nut and stop piece fixed to the small strap in the right place.
The canister strap itself, (only used on the M versions), is apparently still available so wont worry about it.

I have a meeting tomorrow morning with the manufacturers so hopefully will get all these little things ironed out.

Sorry this is taking so long, but I need to get them right before going into a production qty.

Amazing. Glad to see this is progressing so well, also the fact your perfecting the design. Looking forward to fitting these to zeds for years to come.

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay, but I have ended up as full time carer for my wife who has Alzheimer’s, which has meant my time has been fairly limited since having the first prototypes made.
I have now planned to take my car off the road from January 1st. At which time I will be stripping down the rear end of the car to replace all the bushes, springs and anything else. At the same time I will be working on the straps, by tweaking the current prototypes and then having some revised prototypes made and using my car to check the fitting etc.
Once I am happy that they are correct, I will get a production batch made.
