#ZedShed fitting service! Lee took one look and said we weren't fitting it until it was polished up. Spent about an hour with some Autosol shining it up 
It's much better now, but is still in need of re-coating as I'd expected.
There are some clearance issues with the bonnet, and I have to push down hard on the bonnet to engage the latches. I'll be fitting some rubber pads to the underneath of the bonnet to stop any rubbing though. It's a characteristic of this brace which sits quite high to avoid the engine covers. Other braces tend to sit lower and foul on the air intake piping.
So how does it drive I hear you say? The main problem with the Z4 is that the chassis isn't that bad to start with, so I wasn't expecting a huge difference. Only had a 20 mile trip home to see the difference, and most of that was sat at 45 behind lorries
There is however one fairly interesting difference I wasn't expecting is that it's more composed at lower speeds over rough roads and speed humps. The humps near me I have to approach at about 10mph otherwise I lose fillings. Yesterday went a little bit quicker and the car feels completely different over them.
Will be getting some decent miles in over the next week over roads I know really well so expect another update then.

Now that's a brace I'd have to believe would really make a difference. Too bad you aren't closer I'd have polished it up for you! JIM
Having discovered that perspex wind deflectors are almost pointless on the Z4, I snagged this for a bargain off eBay!
It's a little bit grubby but as I had it delivered to work I can't clean it till I get home. The clips are much more of a pain to fit than on the Z3, and it took a bit more patience than I had at the time.
I've noticed that the mesh is much finer than the Z3 ones so you get a better view back through it. Need to wait until home time to test it out at highway speeds.

I was approached by a member with an offer I couldn't refuse, so Sasha has gone on a weeks Spa holiday in the Midlands. She's having an all over body treatment to lick her in to tip top shape...

79000 miles and it's oil change time. Sasha had a full BMWSH when I bought her, and the previous service was 04/07/2014 on 64,995 miles. The dash was still showing 4,500 miles to the next required service but I thought now was probably a little overdue for my liking. I've done 6,000 miles since in the last 4 months already.
Looking at the service book it had an inspection 2, brake fluid and spark plugs. I ordered some Fuchs TITAN GT1 XTL 5W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil & filter from Opie Oils, and a new set of spark plugs just in case. The first set of plugs were Denso branded, but I had to replace them with NGK's as the engine wouldn't run properly with them. Odd, as they were the correct part numbers. Opie sorted me out with the more expensive replacement plugs with no quibbles - superb service!
I'll be self servicing from here on in, and the total for 10litres of oil, filter & 6 spark plugs came to £97 delivered.
The old plugs were pretty worn, and the car runs way smoother and pulls much stronger!

Not the first time I have heard this Gary, The NGK must have a different spark pattern/characteristic.
Double checked the part numbers against the car, checked the Denso website and a few eBay ads and they all list them as being the correct ones for my engine. If you hold the Denso and the OEM NGK ones next to each other there is a clear difference in length (granted you have to really look closely). Both sets of the NGK were identical lengths as far as could be worked out without measuring.

I find that the Z3 really isn't a comfortable commuter car, plus with 5 gears it's not that much fun at motorway speeds. I'm getting 34 ish mpg in the 4 without really trying so it's cheaper to run.
I have to admit now the novelty is finally wearing off my MPG is getting much better. Instead of chucking £30 a week I struggle to break £25. So I'm happy as that's much better than my Z3 and my Touareg too.

If I didn't have to spend so much time avoiding the A34 and the southern section of the Oxford Ring road, I'd save 20 minutes per journey and could get maybe 38mpg. Not at all bad for a 3.0, and considerably better than auto Z4 I had first.
Was another big pile up in the same accident black spot near East Ilsley which claimed 4 lives this week, which is partly why I try and avoid it.
