Ending up pulling over Son towed me home

He has changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump
But she is still not right any one else had this problem

Thank you

Sounds like you have a kind son but those 2 things tend to be go to fixes I would associate with other cars. Indeed they were 2 of our first thoughts when my son's Citroen C2 diesel did the same.

On Z3s (any car really) the first thing to do is to get the error codes read off. They may or may not help. But problems of this kind are often caused by a bad MAF (air flow sensor), inlet camshaft sensor or a vacuum leak. More rarely a faulty throttle body - that one happened to me in recent months.

Hi

About four years ago the Engine Management Light on my 2.8 came on unexpectedly and I lost power, but managed to get home. A diagnostic check revealed the throttle body motor was sticking, so the whole unit was replaced (at considerable cost!). On the plus side, however, the smoothness and driveability of the car were noticeably improved, compared with the previous seven years of ownership.

That's what my recent issue was. And like you not only did it clear the problem but it now drives so much smoother.

But I would look at other things first. It's less common than the other faults indicated. Though it seems to give one of the harshest impacts. It's also probably the most expensive to put right. I got lucky and got a brand new throttle body for peanuts.
