This Problem did not occur on my BMW but with my wife car. It could happen with any car. The solution is good to keep in mind if this problem happens to you.
I was having a problem with my wife Car. It would stall out when the engine was warm. It could not hold an idle. My code reader said the problem was with my mass airflow sensor. A friend of mine who was a mechanic used his expensive code reader and it showed that the temperature sensor switch had malfunctioned. It indicates that the outside temperature was -89°. As a result the computer was telling the car to make the idle mixture very rich to compensate for the cold temperature that didn't exist. Replacing the sensor with a new one corrected the problem..... Frankie
