That's the going rate for a pint and crisps unless you frequent Wetherspoons
Not in my neck of the woods @Jack Ratt, but yes as soon as you go into the countryside to a smart pub the price doubles.Fair enough, they have to sell drinks at top prices or close down, which many have.

If i paid less than £4.50 just for the pint these days I'd be happy especially if you travel north of the central belt.

You’d be lucky for a pint of coke a a bag of mini cheddars round here for £6! Closer to £8 for a beer and kettle chips!

Compared to sunflower and vegetable oil petrol and diesel a bargain.

We've been staying in the Peak District this week at a place called Hulme End in Staffordshire - in addition to having what I would call some great Z3 roads (narrow, uneven but very scenic) the beer prices are very reasonable too - we've done:
The Manifold Inn - Hulme End
The Greyhound Inn - Warslow
Black Lion Inn - Butterton
The Reform Inn - Thorncliffe, Leek
The Royal Oak - Hurdlow
Most are under £4 a pint but the Reform Inn deserves a special mention as a pint of Abbot Ale & packet of Kettle chips was £4.85.
I should also mention the tea rooms at Wetton Mill which personally I think are crying out for a zroadster.org meet - there's a tunnel under the railway line which I reckon would hold 10 cars and make for a great photo shoot and the road down offers fantastic views of Thor's cave.
So in summary great roads, fantastic views and cheap ale - what are you waiting for? On the basis the more you drink the more you save it might be worth chucking a tent in the boot

Very familiar area @RickyBobby, one of the 'events' around the Peak District stopped at the cafe on the Manifold Trail near Wetton a few years back. Particularly since covid, the area has become very busy in summer and parking plus traffic in general can be a problem.
Lady Thatcher is my hero. That is an insult to her memory.No wonder they named the pub after Margaret Thatcher.
Odd, my heroes tend to be ordinary humble people who give their time and sometimes lives to help others for no financial gain, RNLI volunteers for one example, as opposed to arrogant egotistical figures who bring misery to many they are supposed to serve.
Alan was in the RNLI for about 18 years .
Some of the things he’s experienced are awful
He could tell you some stories about his rescues
He used to get called out in the middle of the night and come home about 5-6 in the morning and then he had to go into work.
He has got a medal of the queen for saving “ X “ amount of lives
