SARASOTA COUNTY --
An 11-foot alligator took a dip in a Sarasota County swimming pool.

A homeowner found the gator in the water and called authorities.

Deputies responded to a residence in Calusa Lakes area of Osprey. A trapper was called in to remove the gator from the pool.

A video of the encounter was posted to social media.

The animal reportedly broke through the patio screen

Am amazed at how close and nonchalantly they seem to be dealing with it?

Just a case of knowing what you're doing I guess Ian. Apparently once you get on it's back and grab it's jaws it cannot open them and just a few laps of insulation tape is enough to keep them closed. I'm not sure I would trust that at first though.

Still talking gaters I hope =))

Difficult to know if it actually works or not. Only the successful ones are around to tell us

Shoot it and make some handbags and a few pairs of cowboy boots ....

Seen it done at Gatorland, Kissimmee. Also Steve Erwin with Salt water Crocs, after all it was a fish that killed him.;)

Tony.

ps. When we had completed the fitting out of our place before we started renting it out, just round the corner on a house drive as we left for the airport was an Alligator taking the shade. Never seen another .............................. yet.;)

Not me Guv, we wus told it was all legal an that. Anyway we got enough wi those bloody great Sand Cranes noisy F***ing things.

Tony.

Not that you see Mike, but Christ the noise they make.

Tony.

ps. People make the mistake of feeding them and then they come to the pool screens and peck them and cause lots of $$$ damage.

That they are mate and they'll also feed the small gators in the lake at the villa which makes them lose their fear of humans. When they grow beyond 4ft. That's their death warrant signed.

Tony.
