Stationary in the oil burner today when a taxi slammed into the back. Never braked, just not looking where he was going.Scary!!
Well you would think so, but what idiot designed this..Just sayin. Glad all are OK.Too busy gazing at his myriad of screens looking for a well payed job than to worry about what’s going on around him, same with all the junk food delivery riders, I assumed it was still illegal to be playing with a mobile phone whilst driving/ riding?
So sorry to hear this. I would have smashed his hear on his bonnet.Ok , but we'd got our 3 year old grandaughter in the back, she was terrified.☹
I spent a decade as a motorcycle courier also, also never had an accident, unless you count blasting off from a delvery with my steering lock on..Oh my! I hope you are all OK.
I haven't been involved in a car accident, but on what now seems like a lifetime (early 90's), I was a motorcycle courier. In two occasions I was hit by black taxi drivers who couldn't be bothered to look before manoeuvring.
Anyway, it's a pain dealing with insurance, but the most important thing is that you are all OK.

Bit of a bugger Ken, similar thing happened to a friend of mine, sadley no longer with us. within minutes lots of other taxi drivers arrived making things more stressfulStationary in the oil burner today when a taxi slammed into the back. Really sorry to hear about that Ken. Hoping everyone in your vehicle is ok. Driving standards these days are horrendous. Don't get me started on this one. I drive 250-350 miles a day delivering. It's mind blowing what you see on the roads. Wishing you all the best.Stationary in the oil burner today when a taxi slammed into the back. What's the replacement Ken?Well thanks to the taxi driver (aka Stevie Wonder) the car was written off. What a hassle dealing with multiple companies, but finally resolved with a payout of full market replacement value.Better than I expected! Bit of a novelty for me, taking the train up to Leeds on Wednesday to collect a car. Last time I went anywhere on a train was when I was a student in 1966!
Very interesting this. I had the impression that the accident was a “bumper bender”.Well thanks to the taxi driver (aka Stevie Wonder) the car was written off. Totally different here. We have categories on claims and most of the times for older cars the insurance company fixes the damage with used parts and gives a certificate categorising the accident. In most cases light damages get fixed by them and at a high standard. Bent frames and A pillar damages are write offs but in general there is no harm done to the price after an insurance claim. The true statement is un economical to repair. If a older BMW, Mercedes or the like with high dealer parts prices and labour rates a broken headlamp can meen a write off on a older car. A 2005 Z4 just requiring a replacement wing with bumper and headlamp re seating was written off with a pay out of £3500 or to complicate further a payout £3000 and you can keep the car was offered. So basically you get to keep the car buy a second hand wing bit of paint and you have your car back for about £500 spent. Only issue you now have a claim against you even if it wasn't your fault and your pride and joy is now registered as Cat N which will effect sale price. Still £2500 left in the pocket
