The little bmw has been impeccable since I bought it but recently started leaking power steering fluid on the drive so off to the garage it went. The report came back that a power steering hose had gone, a low pressure part rubber part metal one which I thought was good news. At least the rack was ok! The news was not quite as good as hoped however for while most hoses are around £20 or so this one was £200 plus!!!! That's from Euro Car parts. Anyway the garage are going to come up with a fix which they are confident of managing particularly as its the low pressure hose. But £200 for a hose on a 16 yr old car!!

It's either the steel pipe section corroded which means replacement or the clamp rubber to steel leaking in which case needs a jubilee clip.

The pleasure of car parts just try an amplifier for our 5 series £1400

I think its the steel that's corroded from what the guy said although why its steel I don't know if its low pressure? Yes wife has a 5 series and the parts prices and complexity of it beggar belief! The radio wasn't receiving a signal too well...oh that will be the diversity amplifier at £250 thanks! How's that progress over the way we used to do things?

Rubber low pressure pump to reservoir went on mine, reservoir end perished replacement was over £20 for shaped hose, fitted it with jubilee clips.

I replaced the hose from the rack to the oil cooler on the 2.0 L Z3 due to corrosion on the metal pipe section. NZ$200. Bad corrosion and did the replacement before it started to leak.

It sounds like the return pipe from the rack that goes to the cooler. It is part metal pipe, part rubber hose, part
number 32411094452. It sits on the front of the rack exposed to all that can be thrown at it. Unfortunately it is also one of the hardest parts to track down and could take weeks to source one.
Best bet is to take it to a hydraulic hose maker such as Pirtek.

Just to update the garage made a pipe from reinforced petrol pipe I think they said for about £30 or so and its been fine.
