Hi All, what is the correct oil to use for the power steering on Z3lda? And also the power steering system capacity. She's a 1998 2.8.

Automatic transmission fluid ATF, syringe the resoirvoir out to get the old fluid out then fill with new fluid, do not fill it right up half fill it so there is enough to circulate. Start the car and turn the steering lock to lock to get the air out, once no more air is getting out top up to level on the cap dip stick and replace the cap. Some old fluid will remain in the system but the new fluid will be more than enough to compensate. If you overfill it the excess will be pushed out the vent hole in the cap making a mess.
Dexron III automatic transmission fluid (ATF)
Fuchs Titan ATF 5005 (2 x 1 litre) you will have some left over.

I knew that!! Thanks guys. if I'd looked properly in the deep recesses of my garage I would have found some! Is it hygroscopic like brake fluid?

No its not like brake fluid, its oil but very thin so dosn't attract water

For my bmw z3 1.8 is it dexron III ATF for the power steering aswell I believe the engine is m43b18 also when I look for dexron III fluids on Amazon it says that they are made for ford - is this okay?

Dexron 3 is Dexron 3 which ever manufacturer they say it is for. But contact Opie Oils and order from them.
