So I’ve been working on ducting for brake cooling which has involved manoeuvring the wheel multiple times to check clearances and so on.

I’m aware doing this introduces air into the system so did start the car a few times and spin the wheel end to end (but was in the air so did not feel the usual judder which I assumes will only happen when the wheels are on the ground).

Anyhow today I noticed that when turning it manually fluid was being ejected from the reservoir.
Quite a bit.

so now what should I do in terms of topping it back up to the correct level and removing air from the system (in the past I just drove it and turned the wheel a lot and it smoothed out).

There should be a dip stick on the underside of the resevoir cap to indicate the correct level. Ensure it is up to the mark and replace the cap, overfilling will result in fluid comming out of the vent hole in the cap. When at the correct level turn the wheel lock to lock to self bleed any air out of the system.

The reason it throws flood out of the bleed hole in the cap is because you're emptying the system back into the reservoir which cannot hold all the fluid.

Thanks both for the replies - so just top it up, bleed it by turning lock to lock it and check level again?

Oh and is there a special type of fluid it wants?

Remember the fluid level raise and fall slightly depending which position the rack is in.

Keep the wheels centred when topping up.

Make sure you check the level when the oiĺ is cold, Dextron ATF expands when it gets hot
