Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Parked it up over winter and the power hood was working fine. Came to use it last week and its not working, I had to put it in manual mode to lift the roof after taking the hard top off.

Have checked the micro switch and that's ok, checked the brake switch and that's fine. Pulled the switch from the dash and saw electrical tape around the wiring. Looks like the brown ground wire has been spliced into the brown/yellow wire which I think is the close relay. Seems a bit strange to me.

Any ideas

thanks Jas

The switch as standard is fitted between the seats not in the dash so I would guess some body has moved the switch and extended the wires prior to you.

Ok Thanks Brian, still wondering why two wires from the switch have been spliced though as not all the wires have been cut.

Ok I have rewired the switch as it should be. I have metered the micro switch, that's ok. Have metered the brake switch, that's ok. I can hear the relays next to the pump clicking and the dash lights dimming. I have put 12v direct to the pump and it's not doing anything so I guess the pump is banjoed unless anyone can think of anything else

The pump has probably seized while it's been laid up. Have you tried tapping it with something?

Just remember that you can tap gently with a big hammer but you can't tap hard with a little one. This advice was given to me as a 16 year old apprentice buying my first tools.

Tony.

Thanks @Jack Ratt i will try a little tap I have got a few enquiries out with breakers so I will let you know @spurs fan in a coupe

If it makes any difference I can feel the aluminium block at the bottom warming up when I have been trying it.

Does rather sound like the pump. Maybe @spurs fan in a coupe has one in "stock"?
Hi, if your stuck for a pump, I have one I removed from my 1998 zed, It's sitting in my shed not been used for 2 years or so.the pipes and relays are all connected. iwas working when I took it off but probably need some oil.
cheers.
