Picked up the roof lift kit from @Synclare yesterday, figured I would have a go today at fitting. It does look a little complicated at first glance, Synclare figured about 2 hours. Must admit I was sceptical it takes me longer than that to work out breakfast.

So with my dog Noodle ensconced on the front lawn I went for it.

She was there to ward of cats and squirrels that may or may not want to sabotage the whole affair. Anyway before starting I went through a few threads on how to remove stuff, so a big thanks to the posters for that.

So armed with little knowledge a torx bit and a very apathetic dog I started stripping the car down. Bumped into my neighbour who said "be fine if you remember where it all goes" So with the 2 hour window ticking down bits were flying off, have to say it is remarkably easy to do.

The major pain in the butt was getting the ram and hoses through a fairly tight hole.

But anyway they went through so fitted the the ram up, micro switch, main switch, still have to fit the brackets for the pump. Thought I would get them welded it is just 5 spot welds and was quoted £60 by a garage.

So having to wait until my father in law is back in later today and get the pop riveter out. So I reckon another hour tops and Im done.

Just one thing found a spare screw/bolt thing left over, could not work out where it came from. But as I have not touched the steering wheel should be fine, start to finish time today under 2 hours, very happy with that.

Excellent job. I'm pleased with mine

Good job mate but more pics of Noodle please :happy::happy:

Nice right up thanks.

Good job.
Every time I take apart that jigsaw that is behind the seats I end up with a spare screw or two, sometimes even a rattle..

Well done Andy, nice to see how it's done mate. Thank you.

Tony.

Excellent. Always a learning curve doing these things but it's so satisfying knowing how your zed works instead of taking it to a garage. £60 for 5 plug welds? - they're taking the wee wee. Hope the old "beer crate" went back together o.k :)

I would have to agree there. Sometimes people over price for jobs they really don't want? Personally I would used some screws and nuts.

Tony.

Great work. Do you live in a zoo you have a Lion on your lawn =))

Hi, well all done and very happy with the result, I did not realise you had to have your foot on the brake though. So spent an hour trying to work out why there was no live at the pump anyway all good.

Andy

i did this when i went to buy my zed, i was like ' b*******s the roof is broken'

That's how you can put the roof up and down at low speed, all you need is for your brake lights to be lit it doesn't matter if the wheels are still turning.

And me............=))

Until the guy came who bought my Hardtop and I told him the roof won't work. He got in turned her over and popped the roof down.... Felt such a numpty.. Ah well not the first time I'v felt like that and certainly won't be the last..
Getting old is sometimes wonderful......=))

Looks a pukka job Andy, hope you've not flattened the battery posing in the driveway :D

I guess it stops people of dubious, intellectual prowess from operating the hood on the freeway.
