Looking forward to the summer now and thinking of a wheel refurb, (again!!) had a recommend off a friend
about Powder coating the alloy wheels as an alternative, so done a visit to a local firm who specialise
in this and must say was pleasantly surprised at the finish, was really good and half the cost of the
usual wheel refurb!
Has anyone else tried this method ?

It's very common to see motorcycle wheels powder coated and they look ok so there's no reason your car wheels wouldn't look the same. I suppose it's just the choice of colour

From what i seen of the choice the colours are no problem, high gloss finishes and even a carbon fibre look!!
I will be having mine done for sure.

I had my winter wheels done last year in a sparkly silver powdercoat. The finish is excellent and the cost was even better, £30 a wheel including removing and refitting the tyres.

And the sparkle shows up in the sun or under lights

This may be a silly question to those who might know the answer, but, is it possible to get wheels done in two colours ie Shiny silver rims and the centre (spokes) done a different colour?

Tony.

I had my last Z3 wheels powder coated in that hi sparkle finish and they were superb, I would highly recommend powder coating as it is very durable and there are such a number of finishes to rival any normal spray job any day.

Planning on doing my own wheels, have gun and powders plus blaster to clean. 20 or so min in oven at 400* don't use the wife's buy an old one. Turn out great. Kids building my Model a race car will be powder coating everything not getting painted. JIM

Powder coating all the way for me

From this

To this

From BVJ engineering (Luton area) for £200, wheels balanced and new tyres fitted. Powder coated to colour of my choice

Very happy.

Not everyone's taste but I think they'll look good, £200 well spent for me, I don't think I'd ever get them this good and certainly not in enough hours to make saving the money worth it.
